The DOH has been distributing HEPA air purifiers to schools, early child care facilities, long-term care facilities, government offices that are open to the public, and nonprofit organizations to reduce the community spread of COVID-19 and other respiratory illnesses.

The devices are being provided at no cost to eligible facilities, along with two years of replacement filters.

The specifications for the MA-112 PRO model are available online. Organizations should review them to see the size and weight of the units to determine their needs. The model operates quietly and provides the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s recommended five air exchanges per hour in a room up to 1,190 square feet.

That means it can clean the air in a room up to that size every 12 minutes. It is recommended to have one of these air purifiers in each classroom and other congregate areas. Individual office spaces and hallways should not be included.

Those interested in receiving an air purifier must submit a request online by the end of the day today - Wednesday, April 22.

For any questions, email RA-DHCOVIDMITIGATION@pa.gov or call the team’s director, Paul Foster, at 717-547-3179.
