To get coverage for the year, one must enroll during the open enrollment period. If there is a qualifying life event - such as loss of health coverage, marriage, change of residence, or other changes - residents can enroll during a special enrollment period.

Those interested in enrolling should:

• Use the Plan Comparison Tool in Pennie to see plans in their coverage area and within their budget.

• Apply after gathering household information. Consult Pennie’s shopping checklist. 

• Filter and compare health plans by needs and cost.

• Pay for coverage, which will not begin until the first month’s premium has been paid. For most health plans, you can make your first payment at the same time you enroll.
