The event will include a discussion of New America senior fellow Laura Bornfreund's Rediscovering Kindergarten: Embracing Play and Joy in Learning, which takes readers into more than 50 classrooms around the nation. It shows how educators, administrators, and policymakers can address long-standing achievement gaps while also allaying academic pressures in the early elementary grades.
The event will include a conversation between Bornfreund and Hechinger Report's Christina Samuels. It will be followed by commentary from national leaders in early learning and an award-winning kindergarten teacher.
The event will run from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, June 9. Those interested in attending can register online.
